When Being Vulnerable Feels Risky
Vulnerability and safety often sit at odds in a system shaped by scrutiny, judgment, and rejection. The body remembers when being seen wasn’t safe — so it dims its light, edits its truth, or over-explains its worth even when the perceived “threat” is no longer there.
We see this everyday. People prematurely extinguishing their own flame-or choosing to not light the match at all-because the alternative feels too risky. But every time you allow your authentic expression to be witnessed — without shrinking or performing — you recalibrate your inner map. You teach your nervous system that vulnerability and safety can coexist with peace.
This week, notice where you hide small pieces of yourself in everyday interactions. What would it feel like to bring just one of those pieces into the light?
Reflection Prompt
